DADDY'S BIRTHDAY

Today would have been my daddy's 65th birthday, but unfortunately he drown in 1991 in a drunk driving accident at the age of 48...this song makes me cry so hard everytime i hear it...it is a perfect song and is really a reflection of my dad...you really have to listen to these words to appreciate being in an alcoholic family. This is a picture taken Easter Sunday, 1968 (I think) at my grandmother's house in Columbus OH. CORRECT INFORMATION FROM MY MOM: This picture was taken at my Great-Grandfather & Great-Grandmother Napier's house in East Lynn, WV ("Blacksmith Pate" & Dolly). PROGRESS - SMALL, BUT HUGE

today (everyday) john comes home from school, i anxiously wait to see what he did...as i am so excited and believe he understands more than he is capable of sharing... well, today i pulled out his papers from his backpack and received these two worksheets, with comments from his occupational therapist...the comments read:

   "John did all this coloring with just verbal prompts.  He went to the areas requested 100%.  He has also done well with insert puzzles and we are moving to a higher level, like a 6-8 piece puzzle"                                                              --- Ms. Vicki (O.T.)

did you read that....100%... and "higher level"  --  i am so proud of him.  it may not seem like much, but it is a huge step in the right direction.

Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio Buddy Walk....

The Truel Family, along with many other Ohio families of children with down syndrome will be raising money for DSACO.

What is the Buddy Walk?
The Buddy Walk is an event where we celebrate and support people with Down syndrome. We use this event to gain support for our organization. Individuals with Down syndrome, families and friends walk a one-mile course beginning at 10:00 a.m. and then enjoy fun at Crew Stadium. This includes music with Arnett Howard, superheroes, face painters, balloon artists and clowns. This year, we anticipate the Buddy Walk to attract over 3500 participants from across Central Ohio and hope to reach our fundraising goal of $200,000. More importantly, we hope that all participants will help to spread the message that individuals with Down syndrome possess a wide range of abilities and are active participants in the community.

Where is the Buddy Walk?
This year's Buddy Walk will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio ( view map ).

History
The Buddy Walk was established by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) in 1995 to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for education, research and advocacy programs. In 2006 alone, the Buddy Walk raised more than $5.5 million nationwide. This year over 250,000 people are expected to participate in more than 260 walks across the country. It is the premier advocacy event for Down syndrome. NDSS would also like to congratulate and recognize the Columbus Buddy Walk for their great success last year. To show their appreciation, Joe Bockerstette, Chair of the NDSS Board of Directors, will be attending the Columbus Buddy Walk in 2008! NDSS is recognizing ten (10) Buddy Walks this year and because of our generous contribution made in 2007 ours is one of them. In addition, a picture of the Columbus Buddy Walk will be included in the 2008 Times Square Video.

HOT WHEELS VS. TONKA

JSYK:    HOT WHEELS CARS WILL, I REPEAT, WILL FLUSH DOWN A TOILET

 

So a few weeks back i noticed the powder room toilet not flushing fully...

 

Well today i decided to get a plumber out here....the auger wouldn't work, so he had to take the toilet off the floor and auger it backwards...one hour and $215 later...

This is what was found...not a hot wheels...I thought all along it was a car...when your barely speaking 4yr old points to the toilet and says "ccccaaaaaw, cccaaawww, bye bye..." you know sumpins up!

 

So here they are in comparison...the hot wheels flushed fine in the upstairs bathroom...altho i bought an auger yesterday to help it thru, but it went thru without a hitch...this size of this tonka truck just couldn't fit...Poor truck. It had been stuck in that toilet for about a month...well  he is safe now...IN THE TRASH..!

Officially a Buckeye?

OK - it is official. I have an Ohio driver's license...I have also registered to vote.  I have never voted in my life, so I feel very important now....

But does this really make me a Buckeye...Amy/Tim?

I missed 5 questions out of the 40 that were on the test...

1) What is the minimum tire tread needed in the state of Ohio?

2) When in a vehicle, who is required to wear seat belts?

3) Maximum alcohol level?

4) Maximum time spent in jail for first offense drinking and driving...?

5) Clicked the wrong button on a "what does this sign mean?" question.

I don't remember the answers to some of them...

but 

2.  The answer is very surprising...All occupants in the front seat must wear seat belts and anyone under the age of 18 in the vehicle must wear seat belts. Basically, if you are in the back seat and are over the age of 18, you don't have to be buckled!
